Interview

After recording the first Kraków Loves Adana record “Beauty“, we were going on tour together.

Deniz, Robert, Tim, the drummer who played all of the drum parts on the album and me, playing bass.

As I found it at first very romantic to just play bass on stage and not, how it was used to me, at least have 2 more strings to think about or even to sing at the same time, it started to bore me a lot.

Not that it wasn´t fun, it was just less to do than I was used to and the fact that I´m a nervous kind of guy, didn´t make it any better.

So i got myself some thing to work on; played Deniz´ vocaleffects, played Tim´s drumeffects and added some sounds to my bass.

That playing around with bass- and vocalsounds inspired me to try some more things in the studio…

( Some of you may know that one of the bands I constantly play in is called “the ape” and some of you might be familiar with the ape´s vocal sound, which is mine but pitched and skewed a lot.)

All these productionideas came together when Deniz & Robert from Kraków Loves Adana called me again to record and produce their second record, which is now called “INTERVIEW“.

When I heard the first demos, recorded at home in their appartement, I imediately thought that we need to change the sound compared to “Beauty” into a bigger and more athmospheric kind of sound.

What was intimate and small (in a good way), reserved and thinned out wanted to grow. grow bigger and grow up.

What you now (in a couple of days….) are able to hear on the record is a band that grew with their experiences and imaginations of how music should sound.

It´s them performing and me shaping their performance. (That nobody gets bored again :-)   )

Some geeks among yourselves may know how much fun it can be to spend days with the Eventide H910. You´ll hear it a lot.

But you´re wrong when you think that you´ll hear one needless sound.

You´re wrong.

I tried to make a dense record with a minimum of different sounds and I tried to give every single song on the record their own costume. No album of one piece but kept together by deniz´voice and the sound of the world that is “Kraków Loves Adana”.

I hope you will enjoy listening.
